How You Can Help

HOW YOU CAN HELP

If you would like to assist the citizens of Nepal as well as help passionate and committed students participate in an invaluable premedical experience and cross-cultural exchange, please contribute to our program!

Contributions of any size are greatly appreciated and will be significant in funding the costs of sending students abroad.  Currently, NCI participants pay for all trip costs out of their own pocket, amounting to as much as $2,000 for a three week stay in Nepal.  Donors can alleviate students’ financial burden and contribute to NCI in several ways:

* Subsidize trip costs. Unfortunately the high cost of travel
prevents many hopeful candidates from participating in the
internship program. Financial and other in-kind contributions
(e.g. plane tickets) to subsidize travel costs would allow a greater
number of students to enjoy the experience, raise more tuition
money to purchase medicine, and provide more manpower
  hours for Kanti Hospital.

* Match students' tuition of USD$50 per week. Nepalese families
frequently do not utilize readily available treatment and
medications because they are unable to afford the associated
costs. NCI participants pay $50 of tuition per week that is
used solely to purchase medicine for these families in need.
NCI hopes to create a fund that will match students'
contributions, both financially and in medicinal supplies, to
increase the impact of the internship program.

* Cover operational expenses. NCI needs financial
assistance to fulfill the administrative functions that make the
internship program a reality. While NCI's staff is comprised
wholly of unpaid volunteers, costs for recruiting, applications,
course materials, informational brochures, and other
operational expenses equal approximately USD$500 per year.

If you're interested in making a financial contribution or have questions about donating, please contact BinBin Jiang, binji@stanford.edu.
